DO#27: Staff Picks$10.00
Dearest contributors, readers, and whomever else,
I feel like I say this with every issue release, but thank you, sincerely. Thank you for your support, thank you for your contributions, and thank you for reading over these past few years.
I’m sad to say, this will be the last thank you, at least for a while.
As of writing, we will no longer be accepting submissions of any kind and Deep Overstock, the journal, will be on a hiatus.
For our longer form works, we will be publishing one novel this year. We will be reevaluating Deep Overstock Publishing toward the end of the year.
A handful of us booksellers started Deep Overstock in 2017 as a way to encourage our bookseller friends and coworkers to publish their writing. In the last 7 years and 27 issues, it has grown beyond what we could have imagined.
The response to our somewhat silly idea of publishing “overstocked” work based on sections found in a bookstore has been overwhelming. It has been a treat to be a part of this community.
Deep Overstock has always been a passion project for everyone involved. And that includes both our contributors and editors.
Unfortunately, issue 27 will be the last issue, at least for a little bit.
I’ve come to a decision that life and time constraints have gotten in the way of being able to make our journal what it could be. Between full-time jobs and family, DO has always taken a backseat. This does not feel fair to our contributors and their work.
Fortunately, Deep Overstock is one of many excellent literary journals and there are near infinite homes available for all of your writing.
Whether you’ve been with us since 2017 or found us recently, thank you again for everything.Feel free to send any questions you have to mickey@deepoverstock.com and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Best,
Mickey
