Save the Bees – Timothy Arliss OBrien

The pollinators sing,
and the perennials dance through their short little lifespan.

The bridge takes us over the water,
And my two little wheels gift me freedom
and grant me an overwhelming sense of calm.

I wish that nature would take back over, and we could lay down
and relinquish the earth unto her.
(Her being mother Gaia.)

My friends, the bees, don’t ask for much,
And we know deep in our souls that we owe them
the world.

Once in a while, I stare at the sky and
Try not to think.
Don’t do it.

Think of nothing.

And while you are at it
Start the undoing,

Of the overthinking, yes,
But of all the tropes they told us we had to fit into,
of hopelessness,
And all the little things that send your brain into overdrive
And so quickly caused a full system collapse.

There is so much to look forward to.
We need you here,

And please,
Save yourself

So you can help us
Save the bees.
