A Sea Shanty for Sandy – Mickey Collins

I had a woman whose name was Sandy

Around the house she was quite handy.

I was called out to sea, for work you see,

Had a calling for fish, just before tea,

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

But a storm was a-brewin’ on my port side,

And out on the ocean, nowhere to hide,

I took it head on, but it was an error,

I knocked my head, and when I breathed air,

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

A mermaid I saw, the prettiest thing

Her song she sang, my ears did ring

Frozen, I was, by her magical powers

While all I thought of was Sandy’s flowers

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

This witch of the sea, she stole my heart

I wished I could return to before my depart

But when I made my way back home,

My Sandy–my love–thought I did roam

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

She thought I diseased

Something not right, below my knees

Without a heart, I could not fight her,

E’en though I never lost sight of her

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

So heed this warning,

Before you end up in mourning

Brothers, leave your hearts with your ladies

Else you be cast down into Hades

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

Keep a locket of your loved one near your chest

Remind yourself it’s for the best

For now I go from port to port

Stealing hearts of every sort

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me

For no lady will ever marry this guy

Whose body has sores, no lie

For upon the might sea

I caught an STD

A horrible case of sea-philis

Sandy come back, to me

Sandy share your heart, with me
