SCHEHERAZADE BIDS GOODNIGHT TO HER SONS by RJ Equality Ingram

Remember that words have power when spun
The way they turn spider silk into tapestries
Remember your enemies laugh themselves
Onto the floor for the same reasons as you
Remember the sound of my voice as I rocked
Each of you to sleep during the rainstorms
If I cannot see you off to be married do love
The way your father & I loved you & promise
Her nothing we would never promise to you
Remind your children that it never gets darker
Than the night as a broken heart heals itself
Remember there is a piece of sand for each
Moment I have loved telling you my stories
Now rest up for tomorrow’s fresh adventure
