Child Amongst the Wildflowers – Lynette Esposito

The meadow is a bloom
with spring colors
birds sing
as if the newness
has never happened before.
A small child discovers grass.
I discover joy
watching him in the open field
at the early beginning of his life–
laughing as if this could go on forever.
The sun sets in all its beauty,
at the horizon,
as if pulling an eyelid
over its eye.

The child runs from dark
